      My grandmother's brother Peter fought in the first world war and was a member of the G.A.A. He played Gaelic football for the County Offaly team. He married Susan but I do not as yet know her surname. They had one son Patrick or Paddy as he was later known.[CASSID~2.FTW]

      Patrick Mackey worked on the railways all over Ireland. He was already a widower when he met Mary O'Rourke and was at least thirty years older than her. They were married by Father Monaghan in the Catholic Chapel of Cloghan on the 18th September 1883 and the witnesses at their marriage were, James Mullins and Mary Barr.
